On July 31, 2021 we held a Breaking Seminar at the Howell Dojo. The Martial focus was on proper technique using the Bottom Fist strike and Palm Heel strike. Then how to focus as they worked on timing in using proper body movements as they strike. And finally velocity and following through. This has been the tool used to teach what is most important. Life lessons, the importance of prayer, trust, faith, courage, honor, and humility, and in the process building each other up.
We opened the seminar with an Old Testament story from the book of Joshua chapter 4 where it tells us of the stones of remembrance. The Lord parted the Jordan River so that the people of Israel could cross on dry ground. Then before the Lord allowed the river to flow again, He told them to gather 12 stones and stack them at Gilgal. To remind them of what the Lord has done for them on this day, and to share this with generations to come.
I said to the students, "this is a day for you to remember what God has done for you on this day." The students overcame the obstacles through prayer. At the end each one received a stone of their own to remember what God has done for them on this day. The stone was a small cross trophy with a personal note inscribed on the bottom for each one. Look for a picture of it and be sure to read Renshi Victor's article on experiencing the seminar.
This is in celebration of Seigido Ryu's 35th birthday. To God be the glory. He has guided us and blessed us at every turn. And has used us to bless many others along our journey. And many His great and awesome love, mercy, and grace guide us as we move forward.
The word Seigido means "Way of Righteousness". The word "do" pronounced "dough" Means "path" or "journey" or you can say "the way a person goes" or "the path one is on" As a Christian, we are on the path following Jesus our Lord. The path of Righteousness.
